    It's a light! Why'dya think it's glowing!

It changes colour. All I gots to do is put a chip into it which will fade colours - currently it just glows red green or blue (component colours). My LED array is cool, if only because it's held on with duct tape :p

    I like it :)

and just thought of a few questions as well, seening as when I did design we had to market research and also as well as a finished product we also had to have a retail price in mind per item and retailer cost price as well as packaging..

    1. Whats the RRP for this lamp?
    2. Did you also have to design packaging for this lamp?
    3. Have you patented your design?
    4. have you approached any companies yet.. I think you should as it looks modern and good, may need some cosmetic tweaking on the base ( pic not too good to see finish ) before doing that, BUT I dont think that design would be out of place in IKEA?

    Good work Your Goldiness! :)

Did you design and make the circuit board yourself?

Yup, circuit board is my own design - but the circuit is the same as shown here:
    http://www.emanator.demon.co.uk/bigclive/rgb.htm

I had to redesign the circuit to make it fit into the base.

    Halo:
    1. £30.00 - only due to the expensive processes it requires - I think that it should be more like £20 if I fully optimised it.
    2. No, I didn't have to, but inadvertantly I did. I made a model of it, but to the wrong scale (it was HUGE), and after I took some photos of it I started using it to put the lamp in. It works really well!
    3. Patented as in sent it to myself in the post :)
    4. No, I haven't, but there are some very similar products in IKEA and suchlike, admitadley not quite as bright as that, but similar. The original design though would certainly be more marketable, if a little more expensive.

I plan to do a video today, but I can't promise anything.

    Cheers Goldy,

Yeah if mass maunfactured the build price would come down a fair bit but I dont see much of a problem in retailing it for £30.. seems a good price for some modern lighting.

Good stuff on the cheap patenting :)

I would seriously concider taking it to the likes of IKEA, M&S, Homebase etc

But good luck with it and I hope it helps you pass the course :)

The thing is that I don't think it will. My folder is AWFUL. I'm too much of a perfectionist so none of it ever gets done. And you get the marks for the "right" process rather than the outcome - not how the real world works but never mind. And my process is unconventional to say the least - I doubt they'll be able to check enough boxes.

Lets just hope the theory goes alright then :)

Have a picture of it glowing all sorts of colours :p
