I ran the all the major geek recommended freeware. Removed several 3 letter .exe files per Hijack. Finally ran Panda Software, and I still have problems. I recall some of the files that are showing up in the activescan.txt from the Hijack log. I wasn't sure what they were so I didn't delete them. Looking for more direction. One good thing, I'm not getting the slimshield popup anymore. The "Danger spyware" background is still frozen on my desktop and I still cannot right click on anything within the desktop. Good news is, knock on wood, I'm not having any other problems...that I'm aware of. Please HELP! Show me the way!!!!

I have been dealing with many of these infections lately, lets start by doing a General Cleanup. If you have done these scans and ran the tools, do it again as these baddies are tough to get.

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

After you do EVERY step that applies to you, reboot and procede:

    • Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT
    • Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file.
    • Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.
    • Run HijackThis and save your log file.
    • Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next post. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

Thank you for your help. I have run all spyware & virus programs again.
    Problems prior to running programs:
    1. Desktop hijacked, lost all desktop shortcuts with the exception of the Recycle bin, Outlook, My computer, My Network, My Docs, IE.
    2. Attempt to add shortcuts back were unsuccessful, only 2 at a time before it's replaced with the latest shortcut add, and it would delete by itself on boot.
    3. I cannot right click my mouse on my desktop nor on desktop shortcuts. However I can right click in most browsers and in applications.
    4. I could not access the control panel from the start menu (fixed)
    5. Slimshield popup (fixed)
    6. Home page hijacked....Ez"?".com home page & google.com (fixed)
    7. Wallpaper "danger spyware...smartsecurity.com link, couldn't change wallpaper. (fixed)

Remaining problems after running programs & deleting the recommended 3 letter.exe files listed on Hijack log, also deleted desktop.html
    1. Cannot right click on desktop, desktop icons, nor on control panel /start menu
    2. rigged wallpaper to get the "danger spyware" removed. However still do not have full access to wallpapers. I could only change to the black wallpaper. I cannot use pics I saved as background from the web.
    3. Slimshield has not popped up, nor am I getting any popups.

Okay! There has been many of these lately. Your HJT log is clean!

Have a look at this thread, see if you can fix some of these fixes. This user had the same problem, check the registry keys I had him check. Let me know!
