Hello there. I'm trying to setup a new, generic account on my computer that'll basically look and feel like a brand new Windows XP install. However, all of the icons from my main account on XP show on this account, and when I delete them, they're deleted from my main account as well.

How do I go about deleting the icons from my new account, without removing them from the old? Thanks.

Those icons you deleted, are more than likely listed under c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop.

Any icon in this location, is available to ALL users. Deleting them will delete them for ALL users.

    Hope this helps!

Oh and: c:\documents and settings\%username%\desktop is only for that particular user.....

There is a way, to create a default desktop for newly created users. Just ask, if this is what ye are wanting.
