Desktop issue

First let me say thanks, I followed the instructions up to 6C on the Support Forums readme file showthread 35407(a long night with dial-up) and the "cannot find file..." error listed below seems to be resolved. However the desktop issue remains and since I have got this far with your help I thought I would see if you had some advice or through the posted files still see some problems.

Here's the original request for help: A while back I got hit with a virus that loaded a "virus removal web site and a message that said I had an infection" which took over my desktop. I loaded Spyware Doctor and downloaded a couple of other programs and got rid of the trojans/viruses/spyware or so I think. In the process I lost my desktop, it is visible in startup but turns to a blue sometimes flashing background. I was unable to fix this and just lived with it. However the other day an automatic download came thru to upgrade to Windows explorer 7.0, after this downloaded and installed I have been getting the same error over and over whenever I try and go into programs such as High Heat baseball. The error is " cannot find 'file\\\c:/windows/desktop.html'. make sure the path or internet address is correct".
