Desktop issues

HI there,

Somehow I've picked up a new virus or spyware problem. I've got a cable modem and one day I came home with my comp on and there were about IE windows open with some jumble on it. I had to shut down to get rid of them and when I rebooted, my desktop wallpaper was black with a giant ad in the center. All my icons were still there, but I can't get rid of this ad:
It basically says that everything I do with my cmputer is stored and other people can get to it....remove all spyware now with a link that sends me to: http://www.topantispyware.com/overview.php?114
Additionally, every so often an IE page opens that looks like MS's blue screen of death that tells me about spyware and blah blah blah. I can just close it and it's gone but it reappears constantly. I've update my Spybot and Ad-aware SE and run them both while disconnected from the net and in Safe Mode, but nothing gets rid of these. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I've managed to get infected with so many things over the last couple of years and have so many programs running to get rid of or cover them up, I'm beginning to wonder if it would just be worth it to wipe my drive and start again with just a bunch of prohibitory programs to begin with. ANy instructions or advice with any of the above????
