I hope I have come to the right forum to ask for help. If i am in the wrong place please move it for me. I was looking for a general question section but did not see it.

My son came over and was messing with my computer. He did something that caused my desktop to not show my recycle bin or anything else. He does not know what he did. I am not even able to save anything to the desk top, even if i ask it to. I don't know where it goes. Can i fix this? If so how? I really want my stuff back on the desktop. Any help would be great.

    Thank you, Flo

With your mouse pointed on your desk top area click the mouse right button click properties. choose the desktop tab click custom desktop button on the bottom right and choose restore default.

Thank you...I am glad that my response to your problem worked.

I am not wanting to be to to personal with you but as you said your son came over, I will assume he is an adult...soooo, I am sure he will again visit you (I hope regular) and as your personal computers administrator set up a guest login for alll other visiters wether they be a family member or a friend in need of computer access. However feel free to email for any help I assure you if it is beyond my ability I will refer you else where.

 The purpose of this forum is to ask and receive help. Taking help outside of the forum defeats that purpose and only hurts others looking for answers to problems that have been resolved.

Please do not suggest members take questions private or refer them elsewhere for what is available right here at MajorGeeks.

Please forgive a hasty response to an email I recieved with a reply for providing assistance to a user in need I typed in "short hand/as I would speak" and certaintly did not mean it to read as if I would resource outside of the forum.

If there is an option to correct the email thread I sent please send steps and I will most certaintly correct my "short hand".

I don't know of any other web site with the best resource for simple to complicated answers.

I was unaware that anyone visiting this site could email another with out a visible thread. Therefore, I understand that as far as my recent response that because I did not provide my personal email address any email to me in a response or question or to my response will be posted in the threads on this web site.

Good morning jewlzs.:) I have to admit I was rather shocked and confused when I saw your reply but now I think I understand where the confusion came in for both of us.:)

Members from this site do not have access to your personal information except for what you make available in your profile and you do not have your email in there. But, you do have yourself set to "Instant email Notification" for threads you respond to. In a nut shell this means you get an email from MG's saying that so and so (In this case Flo) has replied to the thread and it contains the content of the reply.

To change this setting go to your User CP > Edit Options > Messaging & Notification and change the value in the Default Thread Subscription Mode drop down box to what you would prefer. Then just scroll to the bottom of the page and save changes.

Hope this clears everything up! Have a great day!
    AbbySue:)
