Desperate To Dual Boot Win 10 / 7

A couple of months ago I bought an Asus RIG GL753VE with Win 10 as the OS from Costco.

I had to get the SSD upgraded. I wanted to run Win7. I managed to shrink the Native OS (the original IS was cloned onto the new SSD) partition to 40 gigs. and I tried installing win7 Ultimate.

Once I figured out how to Boot from the cdrom but Win7 freezes after copying the files.

Trying to install it through Win10 does not allow me to install withbupsatws at all and if I choose not to install with updates, Win 7 Errors out because a file could not be found or updated.

I would like to avoid the $ 175-200 fee to have both OS's installed. I was told I would need to wipe my system clean, install 7 and then 10.

I am cautious though. There was no Key for WIN 10 I do not want to do anything to make my laptop into a $1350.00 paperweight. Could someone advise me on howbtonget what I want, both OS's side by side with a choice to Boot what I wish. without losing my loaded software. (not that there is much.)

    Thank you for your input

I have , at present, triple boot which includes Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
I found that GPT mode tends to be fussy, and finished up installing fresh, as in the old days- and changed the bios to legacy (Bios) mode-W7, W8.1, THEN W10.
This post might help you understand the problem.
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...desktop/boot-to-uefi-mode-or-legacy-bios-mode
However, after a load of experimentation, I have found the best way for me, was to run WINDOWS 10, AS IS-
Then, Install Oracle VM VirtualBox in Windows 10, and install other Window versions in that.
A previous post I made on majorgeeks might also help
    https://forums.majorgeeks.com/threa...m-vm-easily-with-oracle-vm-virtualbox.317642/
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads -also available at majorgeeks downloads
This allows you to keep to GPT mode, and a more secure system (I don't like Microsoft's VM, myself,as I had difficulty with it, but Oracle VirtualBox works seamlessly )
In fact I am now running W7, 8.1, and linux in Virtual machines in Oracle VirtualBox.

If your rig is sufficiently powered, running a virtual machine (emulation) is the better option. I have every version of Windows I've ever owned running in a VM.
