I got a virus last week that deleted my Windows drivers so I couldnt boot up Windows, it said that Windows sytem drivers file isapnp.sys. is missing or corrupt. I attempted to fix it but I had deadlines for work (editing etc) so I put in a new harddrive and reloaded Windows on that so I could carry on editing my work which was on a different external hardrive.

I still have the hardrive with all my documents, inbox, pictures and about 120 gigs of desperately needed valauble data. I have treid hooking it up to access it and sort out the virus but it seems to be a tough one. It wont let me delete anything and says that the recycle bin is corrupt and that the files are empty. I have tried AVG and AVG spyware, NOD32 and Spyware doctor but they just go really slow and then crash when trying to scan the drive, oh and also Trojan Hunter which took about forty hours and then it crashed

Any help and advice would be greatly apprecciated and enable me to get on with my work/career

    Cheers

    Steve

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Actually it does not sound like a malware issue at all. It sounds like a file system problem. I suggest you read the below:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315311

And other than that I suggest that you try to copy what ever files you need from this drive onto a different drive as a backup.

Then if you still need help, I suggest that you post in the Software Forum.

Thanks for that! It wont let me copy any files or delete anything as it says that the recycle bin is corrupt. Because I now have a new hardrive with a new Windows install I tried to delete all the windows files and just use that as a slave storage drive and access my files but it wont let me do anyhting to it. Do you still think its just a software issue and not malware?

    cheers mate

Don't delete or move the files! Just try copying them. Try only one file at first just to see if any single file can be copied.

    Yes!
