I got a router from my cousin today, nice router.. I plugged it in, rebooted it (button thing), and it was sorta working, I got a timeout after a few minutes, then it stopped working. It doesn't work at all with ubuntu, however I was able to get to the config pages with my windows computer. I'm really confused, it should be pretty much plug and play right? I'm not sure if I can get internet on it in the breif 2 minutes (or so) before it times out. Sometimes I unplug it then plug it back in and it doesn't work at all. :cry Any ideas?

    Hi

    Which Windows version you using?

If you have a software firewall, what one is it and disable to see if it was blocking your connection?

Check D-link for a firmware upgrade to that router as it may if listed in the update fix some issues.

Check the routers menus for an "Always on" option as some connections when idle timeout.

Is this router new? if a second hand one was it working fine before? also try resetting the router back to default and then re-enter your ISPs settings as if you just changed the settings, their maybe one setting from another ISP connection thats not compatible with yours.
