Diagnositc Lights

Hey Guys,
I was wondering what companies(Gateway, Dell, etc..) put Diagnostic lights on the rear of their cases? I see that my Gateway does not have them. And are they the lights on the NIC's?

Depends what motherboard the computer has.

I don't think any computer manufacturer has them as a rule,every motherboard has a diagnostic speaker for finding faults though so extra LED's are pretty superfluous.

 

Just from reading this board--I've only seen Dell's (from the major manufacturers) with a set of 4 diagnostic lights on many of there popular model PCs.

Some models of motherboards have a digital readout on the board itself with error codes.

I don't have such a display but I am remembering pictures like above.

 

Many newer motherboards have fault lights on,my gigabyte X58 board has led's all over it giving information and diagnostics about various components,CPU voltage,overclock,memory voltage,memory speed ect.ect.

May I ask why you want a board/computer with a visual fault readout spock?

I just never heard of a board with a visual readout. Although an LCD screen on my front panel giving me temps and such would be nice. (Maybe if I ever get the $$ to build a custom rig).

I've got a digital fan speed controller and temperature sensor with overheat alarm.

Doesn't report major faults though,only cost about £8.

 

That is nice. Though I need the cash to build the rest of the system first
