Dialup connections - could use some advice

Running Win 98SE, with dialup, I know it is old school, thats just the way it is right now, I have been using Speed Guides "TCP/IP" Optimizer, also available from MG's, I have been trying different settings to help load pages faster and increase download speeds, some settings have helped somewhat some haven't, is there a formula for finding the optimal setting for "RWIN"??? Most info I've found is confusing to follow, any web sites on this subject would be appericated or just a rule of thumb for a setting - Thanks

Thanks for the help Halo, I used the link to DSL Reports and PC Pitstop's "Bandwidth Test" and spent the last 3+ hours tweaking and testing the TCP , I think I've tweaked it for all its worth, made some improvement, I'm happy http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

If your happy JoeN then I'm happy, I guess you have rung as much speed out of DUN as your going to get... depending on your connection speed and who your Phone company is ( hopefully one thats friendly with good customer service ) then you maybe able to get a slight bit more out of your connection by asking them to up the line gain a bit to basically clean it up?

the best connection speed I got from my phone co. was after a bit of tweaking and having the engineer adjust thr line gain for data rather than voice was a connection speed of 49.9kb/s

so maybe worth a call?
