my aunts comp is clearly fine, however, hijackthis recommended that i fix avast's email component along with a couple of others...essentially saying that they were dead links and weren't necessary...can someone ask me to post my log...lol...so i can get a second opinion here...im just more concerned with her having outlook protection.
    thanks.

HJT has an issue with some 023 entries with "Unknown Owner" - It incorrectly labels them as "(file missing)" and you really should verify that before fixing those entries. We see it a lot with Avast! - often those "missing" files are in the running process list . . . .

Anyhoo, if you want to attach a log, feel free.

For future reference, HijackThis makes no references about good or bad. It does not tell you to delete or fix anything. It just displays information from a variety of registry keys. It is up to the person reading the log to determine good from bad.

    Indeed!

Chas is correct - This is one of the drawback to automated HJT analyzers which will flag those as "safe to remove." We have a really solid HJT analyzer at my other home (IANAG) and I always warn people that it is only as good as its database - There is no substitute for a qualified human being!

BTW - Your HJT Log looks OK.

    IANAG?
ok so hijackthis analyzer is not fool proof...guess you really have to know what's what inside and out?

Blank has this one tapped into some solid databases: IANAG HJT Analyzer

Kodo put one together as well and it's pretty cool - Just too hard to keep up the database.

Still not a substitute for qualified human being.

This is a good forum! Plenty of knowledgeable people on hand here.

But, as far as Online HJT analyzers go, Blank's is pretty darn good!
