Did I fry my video card?

Hello, I own an xfx 7900 gt. It was working fine for about 2 weeks until today when it stopped working all together. Here is what I did before the problem occured. I was installing a new copy of windows xp home, during which graphics card was working like it should. Since I forgot to do so before hand, I decided to remove my SOUND card before the installation was finished (dunno if this was a bad move). The video card was working even after the installation was finished. I then turned off my computer to reinsert the soundcard. When I booted up, there was no image on my monitor. I tested another monitor on my computer only to find the same result. I pulled out my video card to have a look at it and it looked like maybe some of the the soldering or electrical pieces were, I dunno, fuzzy looking or just didn't look right but I'm not sure. Could this be an indication that maybe static was passed to the card and thereby frying it? What are the indications of such?

By the way I made sure to ground myself by touching a piece of metal (inner pc case) even while I was removing the SOUND card so I have no idea how it could have been fried if that indeed is the case.

I'm not sure what that means. Does that by removing the sound card, I could have permanently damaged my video card? Are there any other hardware that I could have damaged (mobo, soundcard, memory, etc.)?

Well my sound card seems to work fine after I tested it on another comp. I'm hoping it was only my video card that got the damage. Any professional opinions to suggest otherwise? Sorry if this is a spam but I can't seem to edit my previous post for some odd reason.

USB devices are the only devices that can be "unplugged" with the system powered on ....ram/video/sound/nic cards can not be removed with the power on (advised to unplug power cord even if the 'puter is off before removing the devices).
