I picked up SpywareStriker today 2/5/06, and have been working on ridding of it. Initially I ran Adaware 1.06 and it detected SA/SS and deleted it. But I was still having problems accessing the internet as Internet explorer was being directed to random pages. Also an annoying bubble kept popping up in the system tray in the lower right-corner telling me I was still infected. The only thing I thought I could do was do a system restore back to yesterday 2/4/06. To my surprise, after restore everything seems to work fine. My internet is back to normal, that bubble is gone, and Adaware isn't picking up anything new. Did I really get rid of SA/SS or is it still around on my system? I think I'm being paranoid because it was such a pain!

Here's the log from my Panda Scan. Should I just go into the directories and delete those listed files, or go through the removal process of using smitrem and HJT? Thanks for all your help!

I'll repeat part of my previous message in bold:

PandaActiveScan is after you run SmitRem, not before.

But based on what I'm seeing in your Panda log, you had better follow all of the below steps after completing the SmitRem procedure. When you get to step 6 of the READ & RUN ME, only run BitDefender's online scan and attach the log since you already did Panda.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
