Did Read Me First now got a question

Briefly Norton System Works had a problem and each step of instructions I followed from Symantec to "fix" the problem created another one. Finally I gave up and dumped my computer and started fresh.

I installed AVG for AntiVirus protection and installed Sygate for Firewall I wanted to be sure that my system was "clean" of spyware so I did the Read Me First. When I did the Symantec Security Check it told me that I have no AV installed on that computer but my AVG is up to date and running. Everything else checked out okay and I didn't have any problems running anything in the Read Me First, just Symantec Security Check told me that I didn't have any AV installed..

So my question is this why does Symantec Security Check tell me I have no AV installed? Is this something to be concerned about or is this just a "false" check?

I would like to add that I also ran the Symantec Check on my 2nd computer that has Zone Alarm and AVG and that test scan also indicated that I have no AV installed on my computer.

So is AVG really protecting my computers from viruses???
