Go into your Control Panel, then into "Regional and Language Options" or something like that.
On the Regionals tab make sure that English (United States) is selected.
    Click the Language tab.
    Click the Details button.
Make sure the default input language is set to "English (United States)- US".
Under installed services, you should only see the following:
    -EN English (US)
    --Keyboard
    ---US

Apply all of your settings, and it should go back to normal.

Well I'm glad what I suspect was correct (XP PRO MUI verision) at least. What I don't understand is how it got changed from English, and not not being avail. From what my book says (bear with me, I'm taking a class)...Quote " To reocver the abiltiyt to support muliple language UI's, use the Muisetup.exe program form the Multilanguage Version of Windows XP Professional and add the support for the additioanl languages you require..." the link which follows is not working but the closest I could get is what I already posted.

another quote is "You can set the default user interface (UI) language or add/remove UI languages throught the Muisetup.exe file".

I recommed finding that and giving it a try. Its possilbe your kid(s) mistook the MUisetup.exe as a Music file?

If I may ask... where did you get this version of XP? Its only avail via Volume Licensing.
