These drivers are giving me hell. I called Gateway, and was told that if you install a non Gateway XP disk, you are on your own, that voids your warranty. Well, that is BS, according to their site, it voids tech help, on anything that is not hardware. They also told me the drivers on the Gateway site would not work. I have to get them from each items maker.

I am going to try again in the morning with it, if I can't get it going, I will give it back and admit defeat. I have never had this much hassles with drivers. I think Gateway crippled the computer somehow. Just a conspiracy theory of mine. I have several! :D Or they crippled the drivers.

Any ideas for me? Gateway 7330gz, and I have printed and followed the instructions for driver installs.

    Thanks for your time.

I made some progress today. I got the chipset, RJ45 internet working and the video driver installed. All I need now is the wireless working, and I get some cash. You have to get the drivers from the maker of the device, don't mess with gateway's website except to try to find out what you have in the puter.

Just an update on the problem, and solution. Buy a Dell, Acer, Lenovo, not a gateway... With gateway, if you install a version of XP that you did not buy from gateway, you lose tech help. You do not void the hardware part of the warranty, just no help, you are on your own. I used their website and a Linux live boot CD to identify the internals, will have to open it up to get the wireless going.

You have to install it like the other Gateway drivers using the update driver thing, not just clicking on it like a normal computer!

Glad you got it fixed! Make sure you make a copy of your drivers... Gateway is wrong to make it so hard to get one of those up if you do not buy the OS from them.
