Directx 9.0c install problem

I have been trying to install directx 9.0c but the online installer microsoft provides does not install it because "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted". I also cannot find my xp cd and dont have an image of it on my hard drive to try and fix the problem myself so i was wondering if anyone here knows of a way to get around this problem. I thought of downloading the file and manually installing it but i am not sure of the directory for it or if it is even possible to get around it by manually installing it. Any help I will be grateful for. Thanks in advance.
