Disabled Task manager, Anti Virus and C drive space eaten up

    A week or so ago I noticed that my C drive space was low, so I deleted a few files to free up space. But the space I freed up was soon eaten up mysteriously even though nothing new was downloaded or installed. Currently my C drive space hovers between 0 bytes and 200 mb.

    Also, my task manager and anti virus has been disabled.

    Initially I tried cleaning it up with Malwarebytes Anti Malware and it did detect threats which were disabling my task manager, but even though the log file said 'successfully quarantined and deleted', upon reboot the problem would be back.

    I followed the instructions in the Windows XP cleaning procedure FAQ, but I'm still having problems. I am attaching the required files.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    MGTools.exe did not quite run to completion last time. Next time we get fresh logs let it run all the way, until it says hit any key to continue.

    If you do not use Windows Messenger Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Open up Task Manager and click on processes to alphebetize the list. See if any of the following are present and if so then right click them and opt to "end process"

    • C:\mbxqxi.exe
    • C:\DOCUME~1\abcd\LOCALS~1\Temp\htswv.exe
    • C:\DOCUME~1\abcd\LOCALS~1\Temp\wincqoukb.exe
    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\htwy.exe
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\njmtj.sys
    C:\mbxqxi.exe
    C:\DOCUME~1\abcd\LOCALS~1\Temp\htswv.exe
    C:\DOCUME~1\abcd\LOCALS~1\Temp\wincqoukb.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WATBB.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WAT8D.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WAT9F.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WAT9.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WAT13.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp\WATA.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\~59.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\943.rra
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\~DF9494.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\fla75.tmp

    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\iss7B.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\isp7E.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Local Settings\TEMP\{8B1C7726-D49B-4E49-A79A-4C3F085DAAB1}

    DirLook::
    c:\documents and settings\abcd\Local Settings\Application Data\Jhoos

    Registry::
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system]
    "DisableTaskMgr"=-
    "DisableRegistryTools"=-

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Tell me how things are running now, please.

    Task Manager is disabled by whatever malicious spyware/malware is on my computer, so I used SAS to temporarily fix the task manager and terminate programs which seemed to be malware before running the other processes. I followed the instructions for the ComboFix and MGTools procedures. However, when Getlogs.bat was running, a message kept popping up that "Registry editing is disabled by the administrator". I am on the administrator account and I haven't disabled it. I don't think the MGTools procedure was able to run properly. I am attaching the log, please have a look.

    SAS and MalwareBytes AntiMalware still detect the same threats as before, and if I choose to clean the system and reboot, the threats are back again. These softwares are proving completely useless. After performing the Combofix procedure, my C drive space has gone up from 0 to 190 MB. But the Task Manager is still disabled and my system is still not clean :(

    If you do not know what this is then just delete it.

    C:\eryjo.pif

    Registry::
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system]

    Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    Run Ccleaner!

    Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    How are things going now?
