I think I contracted a virus on my PC; Norton isn't finding it, or maybe it did and it removed it after it did it's damage, or I removed it manually. Either way, I am left with a PC (running Windows XP corporate) that won't let me open task manager, edit the registery, or run msconfig, and I'm sure there is other things. Assuming I got rid of the virus, which I think I did manually, how do I reenable these things? I don't know where the option to enable or disable them are.

I have only two accounts on here, one is the admin account, and the other is the only user account and it has admin priveledges.

    Help!

I would say you have some type of malaware that has caused this. You would be better off posting in the malaware section of this forum where I'm sure the exoerts can help.

Going to the spyware/malware/virus forum is a big must.

But, can you also not bring up either the:

Start, run, type in: cmd (press enter) (does it show up?)

what about command, instead of cmd?

There are ways to bypass the restrictions that malware writers come up with.

But, I highly recommend going here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35

Just to be on the safe side. :)

I did not post it in the malware forum because my question was not about that. My question was to see if I could enable things such as the task manager and regedit again. How do I do this?

But, there are a few malware related programs, that disable those things. I recommend you post in the malware forums, just to be on the safe side.

When that is done, we will help you. Just a recommendation.

It's a virus that is known as

    Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.bfq (Kaspersky Lab)
    BackDoor-AZV (McAfee),
    Trojan.Vicsfram (Symantec),
    Trojan.DownLoader.2489 (Doctor Web),
    Trj/Downloader.DVZ (Panda)

    Trojan.Vicsfram description

Frankly I had that virus on my PC. However this problem was eliminated when I installed free avast antivirus - symantec wasn't able to detect it too :(. Virus was removed by avast and my Task Manager got back immediately :)
