Disabling Win98 floppy driver?

I have DOS and Win98 computers at my mother's house. On the DOS laptop, I have a program called 2M. It increases floppy capacity significantly without compresion. Now, its instructions include information on getting it to work on Win95 by disabling the virtual floppy driver. However, when I try this on Win98, as soon as I try to access the floppy, the computer locks up. Mind you, I didn't install 2M on it at this point. I had to re-enable the driver. Now, I really want 2M on my Win98 computer. I don't mind the speed degredation much--the virtual hard drive driver doesn't work, and floppies are slow, anyway. Now, how do I disable the virtual floppy driver?

BTW, I might not be able to try any ideas until this weekend at the earliest. :(

I thank you, but the purpose is to make better use of the floppies.

I think your best option is an external FDD. But, they're not cheap.
Also, you could install a Virtual Machine, install Windows 98, and take it from there. With a virtual FDD or an actual FDD, you could access the files, if that is what you want to do.

About 3 years ago I copied all the files from floppy discs to my hard disc thanks to my PC having a FDD.

Eldon, I am glad that you're trying to help, but the purpose is to increase the capacity of floppies, not to access them. I already have a floppy drive connected to the computer in question--and it's internal.

4th program down sformat.zip will increase what a floppy holds from 1.44MB to 1.77Mb.
It hardly seems worth it to go through all of that just to get 337+kilobytes more on a floppy!

    I can't help you with that. I e-cycled all the Win 3.11, 95, 98 and ME computers.
    I have 2K, XP and 7.
