Disappearing emails

Sometimes after receiving emails they disappear before I read them. They are not in Junk, Deleted, and I have checked 'view all messages' but they aren't there. Any ideas please. I have Vista and Windows Mail.

Is your view set to.
View menu>current view>show all messages

I know two of my emails came from Macs and I use a PC, could there be an issue there. I use AVG free edition and maybe the emails disappear after they are scanned by AVG, but they are not anywhere that I can find. Any more ideas?

Its a possibility. Remove AVG and see what happens.

^ This is to weather AVG might be filtering your e-mails.

The e-mails coming from a Mac are no different than those from a PC.

Just to clarify.

 

No its not an issue because they came from a mac, That has nothing to do with anything, as likely your emails are hitting linux/unix boxes at your isp before they reach you. As far as dis spearing emails your not using webmail to screen emails and maybe accidentally deleting them there by accident? Also in avg you can disable the mail scanning part, leaving you protected with antivirus, but not affecting your mail.

 

Thanks Baxter Stockman and Colemanguy, I am not using webmail, so I will disable AVG email scanning and see what happens.
Any idea where the emails that disappeared, can be found. Thanks again.

The trouble may have been a downloaded AVG file that was incomplete or corrupted. I have reinstalled AVG and so far so good - no disappearing emails for about a month now.
