A couple of weeks ago my computers (6 all up all using Win7 Ultimate) all started having problems where they would disconnect (or at least appear to be disconnected) from the internet. Every 3 or so minutes there is a 30 second or so period of disconected time. However my modem shows it has not disconnected for days.

When downloading files Using Firefox or IE8 downloader all downloads stop after a couple of minutes. They can be resumed but will stop again after a few minutes.

This all started after one of my isp's techs came over to test the lines for slow speeds. After he told me I had the cleanest lines he had heard and that all my gear was ok he left. Since then the above has been persistant. Superantispyware comes up with about 15-20 trojens each day even if I havent used my browsers. I run MBam paid edition as my live malware protection and every couple of minutes it shows that one site or another has been blocked ......

My computers are NOT running slow, its purely an internet thing. I run a netgear wpn824 router and an NB6 Netcom modem.

Would appreciate some help. Logs all attatched

Thanks All yoooooz guys and gals for this Awesome service

When I read your message, my first assumption was that this is not a malware problem. After having looking at your logs, it confirms my assumption that you are not having malware problems. My suggestion would be to start with your NB6 Netcom modem as it is most likely the cause of your problems. Other people have had this problem too. See:

Netcomm NB6+4W Drop out problem - Netcomm - DSL Hardware

Perhaps your modem is overheating or is jjust defective.

Since all of your PC were displaying the same problem, it seems likely that the problem would be in an area common to all. That pointed to your router and the DSL modem and the modem would be more likely to be the problem.

ok well thanks for that. Do you think theres a chance it could be the Netgear router? The NB6 does get hot, but it has always done so and not really been a problem till the last few weeks. I noticed the router isnt accessable for the disconnected periods and all the PC's are connected to the modem through the netgear router. I would rather not buy the modem then find i didnt need to.

It could be but less likely. See below to test

All DSL type modems get very hot, but eventually they may pay the price and some are just not designed too well ( they are too cheaply made ).

To test whether the router is the problem.
    • Disconnect the router from the modem
    • plugin one PC ( your main PC ) directly into the modem
    • Do you still have the problem?
      • If yes, then it is most likely the modem.
      • If no, then the router is the problem or it is the router in combination with your modem. There are sometimes compatibility issues between certain routers and DSL/cable modems.

Taking everything you have said into account I decided to buy a new modem router combo to avoid said conflicts.

    And all is good now.

Thanks again for this awesome service.

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
