Discoloration at edges of screen

Help please! Lately I have noticed that the edges around the monitor are discloured, kind of like an old photo that has faded at the edges and the colours have gone weird.

If I reboot the problem usually goes away. Sometimes this isnt there to start with. What is happening? How do I fix this??

 

Do you have any speakers near your monitors ?

Sounds like Magnetic Distortion.

DOes your monitor have a 'degaus' button if so press it, you may have to search through the OSD to find it.

 

Not really, the speakers arent really close, but anyway, theyve always been where they are and no previous problems. In fact they used to be closer than they are now.

As for you last suggestion, can you please explain where to look, as I dont understand what youre saying.

 

Next time you have the problem simply turn the monitor off and turn it back on. Most modern monitors degauss themselves automatically each time they are powered on. When the monitor is turned on, you should hear a distinctive "dwoing" sound. If you hear no sound when you turn the unit on, it may not degauss itself automatically. If that is the case, proceed to the next step.

Locate the menu button on the front of the monitor.
Bring up the on-screen menu, locate the degauss option, and select it. You should now hear the degaussing noise, and the screen will probably display a brief burst of color.

 

Ok I found that and pressed it. The screen shook and then settles and now that problem seems to have gone...

What happened???
