I scheduled a disk check for my next system restart. After the disk check had completed it started to run the disk check again and I had to stop it. Now, whenever I have a restart disk check is initiated and more often than not pressing any key to skip the disk check doesn't work and I turn off the computer when disk check starts to run. This starts the process all over again and I have to repeat it until pressing a key prior to initiating the disk check successfully cancels the disk check

Yeah, some times that happens. Don't let that stop you from running chkdsk in the future if you suspect your disk is having problems. Chkdsk is a very useful and effective utility.

Sadly, you didn't tell us what version of Windows you are using. :(

See ChkDsk or Check Disk runs at every startup in Windows 10/8/7
