   I have a sony pcv rx850. Suddenly my display adapter, sis 650_651_740,
   won't start. troubleshooting says to uninstall the driver and then reinstall it from a list. I don't have an installation cd as this is original on my computer (2002) and I have never had a problem with it. My fear is if I uninstall the driver will I completely lose the ability to view my moniter as I'm not sure how a driver works related to my moniter.

   The drivers and more so the display adapter driver fot your PC is here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCVRX850 Its listed as 12/08/2004 Video SiS® 651 Graphics Controller Driver, you can just install it again or do as they say and uninstall then install.
   
   
   Do also bookmark that page as its helpful in case you have other issues with other drivers.
