    Hello all,

New member here. I read through some threads about this error but I haven't seen any with the particular details that I have. I am getting this error when I have my computer hooked up to my Samsung plasma TV through the HDMI connection and attempt to watch a movie.

Here are the stats of my computer:

MSI DKA790GX Platinum AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

    AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION Agena 2.6GHz Socket AM2+ 140W Quad-Core Processor Model HD995ZFAGHBOX

    CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X4096-8500C5

Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EACS 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit

It will not produce this error if I am hooked up to a regular monitor and attempt to watch movies. It only does this when it is hooked up to my plasma. The funny thing is, it worked one night and wouldn't work when I fired it up the next day. I tried adjusting different resolutions and it still crashes and requires a re-boot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

Do you get the error on all movies or just HD/BluRay movies?

    (. . . I tried to add this to the above post but I waited too long . . . )

Do you have a video card or just on-board video? If a video card, what model?
    (obviously it's ATI)

    DLB,

Thanks for the welcome and sorry I didn't get back sooner. I have only tried it with Blu-Ray movies. Also, it has on-board video (ATI Radeon HD 3300). As a side note, I removed the driver for the on-board video and re-booted the machine. It then loaded the basic drivers and everything is fine for the moment. I must have gotten a bad update or something?

Maybe something like that.... I'm thinking that maybe something in the driver wasn't 100% compatible with your on-board video and the hi-end decoding required for BluRay. On-board Radeon video drivers are generally a bit different from Radeon drivers for video cards. Maybe the driver that was installed was for a video card? I don't know.... at least things are OK for now ;) It's probably best to leave 'well enough' alone....
    Until next time....

Well, I thought it had fixed it but it didn't. I have temporarily given up and now switched back to Windows XP with SP3. Anybody interested in a barely used copy of Windows Vista Home 64bit, lol?
