Display Driver Problem

A couple of nights ago I was watching a movie on my PC when it froze, and the monitor went into standby mode although the PC was still running fine as the movie was still playing. After turning the PC off and checking the connections I restarted and as windows was getting to the end of the start up I got the BSOD. 'Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed' was the message I got. I can run it fine in safe mode but have been unable to boot it in normal mode. I have searched the internet for a solution but have been unable to fix the problem. My drivers are all up to date and re-installing has not fixed the problem.

Im currently running Windows 7 32bit and using a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE video card.

Does your motherboard have onboard video? or another video card to test with? I have a sneaky feeling your card may be bad. ed

One other thing you might try, remove video card and reinstall, sometime just reseating will work. ed

Hi

Is your PC an OEM one say from DELL, HP etc, if so what model is it?
In Device Manager do you have any yellow ! marks by any devices if so what?

Download but dont install this latest nVidia driver from HERE

Then download download and install Driver Sweeper (BUT do not run it yet) download the lastest driver version for your graphic card BUT dont install yet.

Use Add/Remove and unsinstall your Nvidia Graphics Driver, then reboot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and then run Driver Sweeper to remove any Nvidia Graphics and Physx driver.

Then install the Nvidia driver you downloaded earlier and once installed if not prompted to reboot, reboot into normal mode.
