    Welcome to Major Geeks.

Please read this thread. The more information you give, helps us to better help you.

Have you run any anti-virus to rule that out?

Do you have all the lastest updates for your OS ( Operating System )?

Installed any new programs lately? I hate to suggest reformatting the Hard Drive, but that might be the case. From what I understand, it could be any number of things causing this. From a virus ( trojan or the like ), corrupt drivers or a bad install of some program.

I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will come along to help you, but please read that thread I posted & get back with us. Surely we can get this worked out.

Suesman was on the right track when he asked you if you installed or upgraded any new programs lately. Have you installed any new software (or hardware) lately?

Like drivers for a new printer/scanner? (may be hardware compatibility issue)

    Download any new programs recently?

If not, take a look at programs running in the background- anything that might be interfering with display. Disable any theme you might be running. Go back to the basic Windows desktop. Have you downloaded any type of desktop tweaker or enhancer? Run MSCONFIG and disable non-essential startup programs.

You keep your antivirus with updated definitions, right? If not, go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ for an online virus check. (some people do this anyway sometimes for a second opinion)

After you do that, post a HijackThis log.
