Hi, Just got a new computer. Has Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Having a little trouble setting the screen appearance to my liking (what I was used to from the other computer which was Windows XP). Everything was very teeny weeny when we started up. I have been able to increase the size of fonts pretty well but there are two things I still can't seem to figure out how to change. The blue tool bar on the bottom which has the start and the quick launch etc.... the quick launch icons are really little, how does one increase the size of those icons. Secondly, although I have the font size of most displays just fine like the start menu, program list, tool bars, but.... the active typing font (like when you're typing in the search box or typing new contacts into outlook), not necessarily too small but the the font is very fine and harder to read. I have gone into controll panel and tried changing fonts and sizes but I can't seem to hit upon anything that changes this area. Now interestingly, typing in this thread looks just great. I guess that's my problem I can't pinpoint what this active typing is called. fonts are just not consistant across the board. Sure I can live with it but it bugs me that I can't change that font and it is a little harder to see. It's just so fine. I've compared display settings with the old computer (which is now the kids) and from what I can see everything is pretty much the same both computers use Tahoma most often. I just must be missing something or there is another place to change this font. Thanks for any suggestions! Have a great day!!!

Perhaps your resolution is set too fine. Play around with it in "Settings" under Display Properties, if it gives you the option.

I have messed around with all the options on "Display" in the control panel. That's my dilemma. The resolution will make it bigger by not necessarily bolder and then if I go that route other things are too big. under appearance I have attempted to bold fonts in several of the categories except I have not found any category that affects the active typing like I had mentioned....typing in boxes like search or contacts on outlook etc. And as for the icons on the quick launch. I tried changing the size of those in display but they increase the size of icons such as displayed on the desktop or control panel but not on the quick launch task bar on the bottom.

    Hi SandraS
I believe, that the higher the "Screen Area" setting, the smaller is the task bar. If it's set for 1600x1024 pixels, then the taskbar is about 1/4" on a 19" CRT. That's too small for My Eye-sight. I work with a comfortable resolution of 1024x768 on the 19" CRT.
    Cheers:)

Sandra, dang, forgot to tell you, when you right click on your task bar per the link I gave you, go to "VIEW". That link doesn't tell you that.
