Hi, I have an old Compaq Presario F500, tried win 10 but no good, so loaded win8.1, the trouble now is that windows 10 wiped out most of my drivers for some reason, I have found some, but none available on manufacturers website, for my model, tried ringing them but no help.
The problem is I had Wifi working before, but now have only a orange light, tried different drivers, but cant find one that works, does anybody know the correct driver that may work, the card is Broadcom, it kept turning off Network in the Bios, but that stays on now. I have tried another Network card, but not knowing the drivers cant say if it will work, at present use an Ethernet lead, works ok ish, but slow. Some have said its the Motherboard switching it off, but as the orange light is on, so it must be getting power. Have checked a Usb dongle and that works, its not the only laptop I have, would just love to get the Wifi working, any help advise appreciated.
    Many Thanks

Your best chance to getting wifi to work without manufacturer's supplied drivers is to buy a USB wifi dongle and use that.
