Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Just wanted to get y'all's opinions on something, or to clue me in on what's the best way to go about this:

If I'm helping out in the Support Forums and run into a problem, how is the best way to alert others? For example: in this thread, I'm pretty much foundering (just blows my mind that a backup drive is working, we disconnect it for safety's sake to format/reinstall Windows, and the damn backup drive is dead upon reconnection).

How should I call for help? I sure don't want to bother anyone with PMs - maybe some kind of flag or alert? I don't know - any thoughts?

I usually send PMs, and I have received PMs as well, when another MG member wants me to come look at a thread where someone has a really weird RAM issue, (for example). As long as the PM explained why they want me to come look at the thread, I don't consider it a bother at all. I'm flattered that other MG members who I know are highly knowledgeable think that I can be of help when they are stumped. :)

One of the most important things any geek has to learn is what the don't know, and when to stop and call for assistance from someone else who can look at the issue with fresh eyes. Never be afraid to ask for help.

I went to take a look, and I noticed satrow posted in your thread, and I'm sure others who have seen your post here will go look as well.... we'll get it sorted out. :)

    Thanks, Lady Mimsy.

I frequent other support forums, and I've come to regard Major Geeks as the BAM team (By Any Means) - if it don't get fixed here, it don't get fixed.

I find myself falling into the trap "If I can't fix it, I'm letting the team down" - I got to quit doing that.

I'll be sure to send you PMs next time I'm clueless. ;)
