    does divx dvd players play .mkv files? it has dvix ultra.

    I looked up 3 different players and none supported .mkv files. I also looked up .mkv file on Google and it looks like they are meant to played through Windows on certain media players which have decoders for that type of file.
    Try running the file through a decoder that supports that file, then burning and playing it.

    I have FFDshow and Divx decoder but not sure how I decode the files.

    I don't use either one, but the description for Divx says it is drag and drop. So, I am guessing that you can open the software, then click (and hold you mouse button down) on the file you want to convert, drag it to the open space on the decoder, let go of the button, and then set your output for what kind of files your DVD supports. If that doesn't work try a new thread asking how to decode those files so that they can be burnt and played
