dl.exe causing major problems.

    Well my PC got that dl.exe bug out of no were and i found it so i deleted it and restarted my PC but now the OS will not boot in anything but safe mode or it just goes on a blackscreen were its susposed to have the XP logo with the bar's going accross the screen. I used the CCleaner thing but it appears to of not worked :cry I would normaly just reformat but i only just did reformat that PC. Also is it safe to keep it connected to the network?

    I also get rundll32.dll cannot be intialized sometimes when in safe mode.

    You will have to explain with more exact detail exactly what file name you deleted and where it was located. If your PC will not boot after deleting the file, it sounds like you may have deleted a required system file or it is possible that the infection you had is one that is referred to as a system file infector. That is, one that will infect many or all of the files of your operating system. If this proves to be true, formatting and reinstalling would be your best option anyway.

    Based on what little information you have provide, we cannot tell you what you had nor whether it is safe to keep the PC connected. However you will need to connect it inorder to do the below steps. Those steps prefer that you run in Normal Boot mode but you can run them in safe mode if normal mode is still not possible.

    Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    the file was in C:\Documents and settings\myusername\ and dl.exe was in there. After hours of googling i'm going to format my pc in a couple of hours after i got some stuff backed up.
