this big black box started appearing whenever i use firefox, it calls itself "dl.exe". at first it didnt give me much trouble... i would just close it & carry on. that was a few days ago. about 24 hours ago it took control of my browser... infact of my internet connection (it has ie aswell) i have borrowed a laptop on which i am typing this. at first it would let me into a few sites, but it seemed to know when i started typing "dl.exe" in search engines & has stopped me from going anywhere now. please help me take my pc back.

This could be the W32.Bagz@mm worm.

You could try the below.

Run TaskManager and kill the dl.exe process if found running. Also kill syslogin.exe if found running.

Then copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"syslogin.exe"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run]
"syslogin.exe"=-

Then reboot into safe mode without networking!!!
Then delete the below files if found (exact matches only):
C:\Windows\system32\syslogin.exe
C:\Windows\system32\dl.exe

Then reboot in normal mode an do the below.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
