i recently got infected by this virus...
besides the usual issues i've run across, i cant access msconfig or regedit, also i can only boot my pc in safe mode...

all i would like to know is if it's safe to transfer my .jpeg, .mp3, my documents and .txt files to another HD... i've completely given up hope on all my backup software (my 200GB was my backup aka virus haven now) and its getting me to the point where im actually considering just formatting, but i cant cause the info on it is and i stress, important

Why don't you let us help you clean it. We've cleaned some pretty badly infected machines. The file forms you mentioned are probably okay. I would back up the music files separately from the others. If there are email files, you will need to decide if you want to back up the ones with attachments.

If you'd like for us to see if there's hope for your badly infected harddrive, please work through as much as you can of the READ & RUN ME FIRST and attach the logs you are able to get. It would be best if you can go through the procedures in order. However, if you can't do anything else, please try to get CCleaner, Combofix and the MGTools to run, in normal mode if possible, in safe mode if not possible.

hey thanks, im glad to be here... dled some stuff from ya'll a while back...

heh.... its k... i formatted my 80GB and used it as master... unfortunately something totally screwed up that drive cause the proper jumper configuration didnt work.... so i tried it on slave, then i realised i was infected by something else too besides the mass mailing worm that gave me dl.exe. i somehow got the gaelicum.A virus... im seriously impressed by that virus, infecting every .exe file on all accessable HD's. thats cool. it crashed my 80 and i had to format again... i installed AVG free, and got rmgael and vcleaner which i ran off the 80GB when i finally did get the 200GB to connect on slave...

so they worked, except the gaelicum.a virus is constantly infecting the system restore files on the 200... though thats impossible since i turned off system restore which is supposed to delete all the restore files (??)... anyway im slowly moving my files across, burning off all my back-up stuff, when im done i have to move all the mp3's over....... STRESS lol, then its to format, reinstall xp blah blah blah.

After im done with the 200 i have to fix the 80 (again) cause the usn journal is being retarded (again)... Anyway thanks abri, for the um support lol... got my hands on a bluetooth keyboard and mouse today, plus 1GB of ram so its my birthday lol... heck my pc has been my birthday and christmas gift for the last two years haha....

I'ma hush now before ya'll ban me for yapping too much lol...
