Hi, A few days ago a freind called me "having problems, IE wont work", Being the nice chap i am i offerd to see if i could help.
On booting his pc i noticed few things, no antivirus software, no firewall, not much protection really (current or running) After a few scans etc with programs i use myself ( i use mainly the ones advised on this site, after several successfull family pc's cleaned) Malwarebyte's, superAntispy, CC cleaner etc, the problems still seemed to be there.
The issues were: cant connect to net, the app or DLL c:\windows\system32\msls31.dll is not a valid windows image, and 2-4: file download- security warning popups, name: STS**.tmp the * keeps changing numbers letters etc.
I ran the full Malware removal guide right up untill the point it said "did this solve your problems?" the answer is no, so i am attaching the logs etc as requested and would really apreciate any help with these issues.

the Os is: XP home, vers 2002, sp3,
hardware: dell dimension dv051, cpu 2.8ghz, 504 mb ram

    thankyou

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Your logs are clean.

In the above you said the "issues were", but what current malware problems are you having. The temp files are more than likely just related to some application that is running. You can manually delete all of the files in the below folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\lorren ward\Local Settings\Temp

But if the files come back, they are temp files for something that is running.

I do suggest that you do the below.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Delete the below files if they still exist:
    c:\windows\Tasks\ErrorRepairTool Scan.job
    c:\windows\Tasks\ErrorRepairTool Scan.job
    c:\windows\Tasks\philip thompson backup.job
    c:\windows\Tasks\philip thompson scan and fix.job
    c:\program files\ErrorRepairTool\ErrorRepairTool.exe
    c:\program files\ErrorRepairTool
    c:\program files\AMUST\Registry Cleaner\RegCleaner.exe
    c:\program files\AMUST\Registry Cleaner\RegCleaner.exe

Delete the below folders if they still exist:
    c:\program files\AMUST
    c:\program files\ErrorRepairTool
