    Hi

Could you expand a little on what is Custom Cookbook? (yeah I know folk will google it but wish to know in what areas you have used it and to do what)

Got new hard drive, what does that mean? did you re-install Windows on this new hard drive, or have you added this as a slave (secondary HDD) in your PC?

What Service Pack is your XP at?

Is it all programs that you have the error with, if not please name what ones, can you try a system restore point and go back to a previous one (likely you may not be able too if .exe files are erroring, so also try Safe Mode).

XP SP3. Problems with orig harddrive, some programs would not work. Installed new, reloaded win xp 3. All programs work.

Have Custom Cookbook, Expert Software, www.activisionvalue.com which seems to no longer exist. Program was written for win95,98. Worked on old harddrive. Have tried compatibility, nada.
I like program because you can enter any recipe, will tell you nutrition info (calories, etc).
Program loads, but says start.exe-one of components missing. Help file opens, also goes to support website which is no help but main program does not open.

    Haven't tried safe mode.

Tried safe mode, no go but message says "can't run 16-bit window program".
So seems my problem is trying to run 16-bit on 32-bit system.

Yes, I tried compatibility and it has worked with other programs but not this one.
It is a puzzle why one hard drive behaves differently than the orig one but I have noticed other differences, insignificant but different.

I read on the MS website that 16bit will not run on 32bit but perhaps with virtual??(something). I haven't had time to explore.

Update: I installed the old harddrive as slave and am able to open the program in this drive.
