dllhost*32 COM Surrogate problem

I am experiencing an issue where dllhost*32 COM Surrogate opens multiple processes, uses up nearly 100% of CPU, and bogs down my computer severely. Started several weeks ago. I ran Norton antivirus, which failed to detect any problem.

I followed the recommendations on the "Run and Read Me First Malware Removal Guide. Logs are attached. The problem appears to be resolved....the processes are not opening up and CPU usage is low. However, the Malwarebytes program is continually giving a message that it is blocking a malicious website from the dllhost process with the domain fff5ee.com. So it seems that the issue is contained but not removed? Does this make sense to someone that knows more than me about malware (I know very little, obviously)?

I saw that the dllhost*32.exe was recognized by the RogueKiller software. Should I run again and try to delete it? Anything else I should do? I still haven't enabled the User Account Control or Toggled System Restore. Thanks so much!

    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

Re run Hitman and have it remove all that it finds.

Navigate to this folder and from inside of it, delete all the temp file that Windows allows you to.
    C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

I may need to have you run FRST a slightly different way too, but for now, let's just leave it at what I've already laid out for you.

OK I followed the recommended steps. The fixME.reg step worked fine and I got a success message. I couldn't open the frst file through notepad, but opened it through the command prompt directly. Everything seemed to work fine. I have attached all logs. Thank you!

    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your next reply.

NOTE: This script was written specifically for this user for use on this particular computer. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

    Download Fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt on your Desktop. Make sure you save it as a txt file.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your Desktop.
    • Now I want you to disconnect your PC connection to the internet by unplugging the cable ( if it is wireless then temporarily shutdown the wireless network ).
    • Run FRST64.exe by right clicking on it and selecting Run As Adminstrator
    • Click the Fix button just once and wait.
    • Your computer should reboot after the fix runs.
    • Reconnect your internet connection after reboot so you can come back here to continue.
    • The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt) please attach this new log to your next reply (attach or paste)
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • Fixlog.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Please attach the above two log first before you continue with the below.
Also at this point, I want to double check the status of Poweliks by having you run another scan with FRST like in my last message and attach the new FRST.txt and Addition.txt logs.

Logs are attached. Computer is running great; it seems that you have fixed it. Thank you so much. How can I compensate you? Do you do this on a volunteer basis? Also, should I change my user account control settings back the way they were?

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/Windows_Logo_key.gif and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    8. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    9. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

You can also delete FRST and any files and folders it generated.
