Do I need a New Hdd?

Very possible on new HDD but also very possible its a number of other things too from....

1. PC over heating, common cause of turning off or rebooting, so install a temp monitoring application Everest free or Speedfan are ok. ( in Everest temps are found under the Sensors option )... please post what temps are after say 30mins or so usage ( depending on if PC stays on )

2. Boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot ) as it could be a driver/software issue, run your PC for a few hours or long enough past what a normal turn off would be.

3. Does the HDD make any metallic type noises or ticks? can if a newish one check its SMART status with this app HDTune, once installed click Health and all under Status should be OK

4. Are you using a specific application when your PC turns off, have you installed anything new at the time of this happening? and how long has this been going on for?

5. What Windows version and is it fully upto date?


should start you off with some checks for now, many other types of things to check also.
