Do I need Spyware Doctor?

  1. I have Spybot, Spyware Blaster, Hijack This, RapidBlaster, CW Shredder, and regularly run Norton virus scan, McAffee Stinger, and other "check-up" programs. I also have custom internet settings which block most cookies and most pop-ups.

Today, when I downloaded the most recent Spyware Blaster (3.3) from your mirror site, a recommendation / ad for "Spyware Doctor" popped up.

With all the programs I already have on my (Windows XP) computer, along with a firewall which comes with my cable-ISP subscription, do I need to ad this additional program? And if you think so, why?

PS: I've never been hijacked; In four years, I've only "caught" one insignificant virus, and I've only had problems with my ISP when everbody else was having the same problems (caused by the ISP, regardless of the user's software).

A simply answer....no you do not need to purchase Spyware Doctor. The free programs that are available are sufficient. And the new free applications from Microsoft called Microsoft Antispyware is getting very good too.

  3. Thank you, Chas! After reading the promotional material I didn't think so, but I wanted to make sure.

By the way, love your sig!
