Do recovery discs have windows?

I need to install a new HD in my laptop. Will I also have to buy a Windows version or will it already be on the recovery discs I have?

 

Providing your discs are good, you should be ok to replace a drive. No MSFT licensing conditions to worry about.

 

A half dozen or so recoveries from HD crashes and I've yet to use a recovery disk.

I've always gone to backups. I believe in backing up early...

and often.

 

but do the recovery disk contain a version of windows or not ?...

my girlfriend wants me to re-instal windows on her laptop, but all she has is the recovery disk, will this do?

 

so i will be able to re-install windows by accessing the windows partition, just put in the disk and see were it leads me....is this correct?

 

worked fine,

i put in the disk and restarted the laptop and it asked me what i wanted, answered "windows and 2 partitions" and it just did it all by its self.

there is now a clean version of windows on it with all the things asus put on the disk.
