    I was just in the Hardware forum and noticed that I was the only member viewing the posts, but there were 33, or so, guests. I was wondering if most of the members view as "guests', without bothering to log in unless thay have something to contribute.

    I always "log in" when I go to the first forum I view, daily. What do you do? Bazza

    Does the amount of time the thread has been viewed go up when guests view it :confused:

    No...Not at all...I think bazza was just trying to figure out where some of the regulars were, being that he was seeing 30 something people looking at one of the forums(as guest), but apparently i'm guessing he couldn't find any of the regulars??

    Bigbazza...please correct me if i'm wrong...just didn't want ironhead to think he was doing something wrong!!!!

    Major Geeks, the main download site, generates a LOT of traffic, and a lot of interest. Many people who nose around the forums never register, or may nose around for a long time before registering. A large number of "guests" is normal.

    You are right, rogvalcox. I was just surprised to find myself as the only member viewing the Hardware forum, at the time. I know the ratio of 'guests' viewing to 'members' viewing is extremely lopsided as GT says. I was just intrigued to ask if members always log on, before viewing the forums, or only log on when they have something to say.

    Me, I always log on when I visit the first forum, irrespective of whether I think I can contribute, or not. Just my habit, I guess.

    Maybe it was just a time zone thing and all the MG members in USA and UK, etc., were asleep. I didn't check to see what the equivalent time was in UK and USA at the time I logged on.

    @ironhead.

    You are doing nothing wrong. It is your choice to view forums as a 'guest', or a 'member'.
    Your knowledge will expand and your contributions are always welcome. Bazza

    After running crap cleaner, I may not notice I'm not logged in until I have something to say, then I'll check the "remember me" box.

    Depends if I forget to sign in or not, generally works that the times when I goto post I get reminded to sign in, but most times my first port of call is emails and the reported posts.
