A lots of Giant Companies are loosing data every day and increasing daily. Cyber Attacks are affecting these companies largely. To prevent this, now its high time to secure the path. Regular data backup with a proper planning is the most important step to take.
My question is what do you think about using free tools ? is it safe to use?
I think free tools are not safe to use. For Example- If you use a free data recovery tools it will have access all of your data , for which i am worried the most. We are doing a study on it. Your suggestion/opinion is very important for this research. Thanks in Advance.

The answer is a simple yes. Anything hosted on MajorGeeks has been tested fully before hand to ensure it has no malware and is safe.

I have and use Macrium Reflect Free, Paragon Rescue Free Edition, and Aomei's Backupper Free, SyncbackFree and a few others for data backup and system recovery. I believe in having choices and some products have advantages in certain areas.
For data recovery, Recuva has always been good enough. Once downloaded, all these tools can be ran without an internet connection .

Of course there is always MS's own recovery and restore disk and file history available.

I am speaking of personal use software. If you looking from a business point of view, it's a different story.

Thank you Max for your opinion. I really appreciate it. I am not talking about only MajorGeeks, Its about many other tools which are not secured. Free tools can use for personal use but for a multinational company it will become a threat. So why taking the risks? while we have better option?

I hope you are right. Many people are using free software to recover their lost data.

    1. This site is only for personal users - not businesses. Businesses can look after themselves.
    2. There are one or two other hosting sites I would trust (filehippo and CNet) but MG is the safest.

Max just think about 100's of people are using free tools and we know not all of them are safe to use. As a professional, It is our responsibility to raise awareness. If We can make a list and share it. It will be very helpful.

There are no IT 'professionals' on this site as such. But the whole basis and culture of MG is to host, for personal users, software that has been tested for safety and malware and that it works as its developer describes it. If it doesn't pass stringent tests it does not get hosted. Nothing more nothing less.
