sorry to disappoint the fans out there but i loathe it, well that is the old eps anyway, never seen the new version maybe i should give it a 2nd chance, but doubt it will be a positive outcome

the K-9 looks heaps better though (i think anyway)

Missed most of the new doctor who series, the old one freaked me a little,I remember the first time a darlek had its case removed to show the guy inside, that guy chased me around in a few nightmares growing up:eek: :)

Have you seen any of the spin off series Torchwood:confused: the acting leaves a little to be desired IMO but still pretty cool, its hard really relate to Sci fi shows in the UK because they always happen in America, much easier to relate to when they're chasing aliens around a grimy block of London flats or down road full of terrist houses :)

    Ahh, I like both :)

I've been following the spinoff Torchwood too - I've got mixed feelings about it. The first few episodes were amusing. It's like Adult Sci-Fi drama by numbers.

    * Plenty of monsters and gore ... CHECK
    * Sex, innuendo and adultery ... CHECK
    * Myserious charachters and unsolved plots ... CHECK

And so on. It's got a little tedious after the first few eps. I didn't think it was nececary for the main charachter to go off with one of the (rather unattractive - so I've been told) Torchwood people. It was quite good with her having her husband and her "normal life" ... I can only see it going a bit out of whack now.

But the "real" Doctor is good. Tennant is a very good doctor in the new ones - much better than Eccleston in my opinion. They both have their merits admitadley but Tennant seems more like the good old Doctor to me.

Yep. I rather like the new Torchwood. :) Though it can be a bit weird at times.

As for Dr Who I think the new Doctor is excellent and I've seen 'em all from the days of William Hartnell (though I though Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy were rubbish).

Now I dont like Torchwood. Just cant get to grips with it.

My favourite monsters from Dr Who are the Daleks. I love em.

Me too, sadly I can remember most of them, including the B&W ones!!! Fond days of me and my sister hiding behind the couch when the nastys ( normally the Darleks or Cybermen ~ think the Cybermen are neat... even designed a CD cover for a friend who was creating some theme score music for a DR Who series and used the Cyberd00ds ) appeared.

Colin Baker I thought was OK, Sylvester McCoy sadly was the one that killed the series until it was resurected with a feature lenght episode iirc with Paul McGann then the last two.

Tom Baker was the best I can remember IMO.

Teh new K-9 looks groovy, I want one, and no doubt it will be a roboto toy for next christmas's kids ( or grown up kids ) stockings :)

Torchwood is good, but could be better as Goldy says they have check all the boxes against US SciFi series to try and hit a magic formular, they are close and setting it in Cardiff is a great decision in not always picking series locations in Londinium.

I would have to agree with you and H one that. I'm old enough to remember the original series with William Hartnell, and later, Patrick Troughton. Sadly, a lot of episodes with the first two Doctors, and some of the third are lost forever, as the B.B.C. decided in their 'wisdom' that they didn't want them anymore, and needed the room. Always wondered why somebody didn't just take them home, rather than trashing them. Ah well.

The new Dr.Who series is not bad. Better technically and prop wise, but I still like the old series as well.

Torchwood, I'm only just getting into. Seems not too bad, but could be better, i.m.o.

I have been a fan of Doctor Who since I was in high school. I still remember that 18-month hiatus that was imposed during Colin's tenure. I enjoy the new series and even got my girlfriend to enjoy the show with me. She wants to see the older ones, and I'm going to have to figure out which one to start her with. I'm thinking start with Pertwee since she won't be able to watch some of the ones from Hartnell or Troughton which is a shame. At least I have the Target books that tells you the story without watching the series. Still it's nostalgia just to watch the earlier ones... and when I get the chance to buy the DVDs I'm there getting them. :)

The new Dr. Who, series 2, has just been released as a boxed set, in OZ, I believe. Hope it is in a Tardis shaped boxed set as Series 1 was (which we have). Bazza

Yeah, I think Tom Baker was to Dr. Who what Harrison Ford was to most of his movies. He kind of stole the show. I loved Dr. Who, even though I was not a child when I started watching them, but I haven't seen any of the newest ones.

    Something i didn't know.....but that's nothing new!

The programme is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running science fiction television series in the world!

Have very fond memories of the program as a youngster!

I always loved the theme music for the show especially, it was very mysterious and soul stirring for me, I would come running to the set whenever i heard it!

A parting fact: Doctor Who first appeared on BBC television at 5:15 p.m. (GMT) on November 23, 1963....I wasn't even thought of then, and im 41 years old (awesome stuff for a TV series)

    Regards to all fans!
