I saw this article and it just sickens me at what kind of people are in the world. Thoughts?

Pedophiles to launch political party

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch pedophiles are launching a political party to push for a cut in the legal age for sexual relations to 12 from 16 and the legalization of child pornography and sex with animals, sparking widespread outrage.

The Charity, Freedom and Diversity (NVD) party said on its Web site it would be officially registered Wednesday, proclaiming: "We are going to shake
The Hague awake!"

The party said it wanted to cut the legal age for sexual relations to 12 and eventually scrap the limit altogether.

"A ban just makes children curious," Ad van den Berg, one of the party's founders, told the Algemeen Dagblad (AD) newspaper.

"We want to make pedophilia the subject of discussion," he said, adding the subject had been a taboo since the 1996 Marc Dutroux child abuse scandal in neighboring Belgium.

"We want to get into parliament so we have a voice. Other politicians only talk about us in a negative sense, as if we were criminals," Van den Berg told Reuters.

The Netherlands, which already has liberal policies on soft drugs, prostitution and gay marriage, was shocked by the plan.

An opinion poll published Tuesday showed that 82 percent wanted the government to do something to stop the new party, while 67 percent said promoting pedophilia should be illegal.

"They make out as if they want more rights for children. But their position that children should be allowed sexual contact from age 12 is of course just in their own interest," anti-pedophile campaigner Ireen van Engelen told the AD daily.

Right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders said he had asked the government to investigate whether a party with such "sick ideas" could really be established, ANP news agency reported.

Kees van deer Staaij, a member of the Christian SGP party, also demanded action: "Pedophilia and child pornography should be taboo in every constitutional state. Breaking that will just create more victims and more serious ones."

The party wants private possession of child pornography to be allowed although it supports the ban on the trade of such materials. It also supports allowing pornography to be broadcast on daytime television, with only violent pornography limited to the late evening.

Toddlers should be given sex education and youths aged 16 and up should be allowed to appear in pornographic films and prostitute themselves. Sex with animals should be allowed although abuse of animals should remain illegal, the NVD said.

The party also said everybody should be allowed to go naked in public and promotes legalizing all soft and hard drugs and free train travel for all.

Think about it...what percentage of the population have pedophile tendencies? Very small I would think. Yes, these people are sick (quite literally a lot of the time), but do you really think they will rally enough support to get anywhere with their campaign to change the laws? No! In fact, all they are doing is giving themselves bad publicity to Joe Schmoe on the street. They would need to be wearing paper bags constantly over their heads during their campaign, otherwise vicitimization is highly likely.

For some people in the world, that is just plain WRONG!

 

The only law they should have is to make it illegal for women to say no.


On a serious note, what I hate are the double standards in sentencing paedophiles.

If a woman is the paedophile, she is almost certain to get off lightly.

If it's a man, he will get locked up.

What sort of message does that send? Both should be locked up and the key thrown away.


I recently saw an NBC Today interview where they were talking with Mary Kay Letourneau and her now husband, as if they were a celebrity couple.

She, and others like her, is a convicted child rapist and paedophile, and should be treated accordingly.

 

The double standard here in the U.S. amazes and disgusts me too. Males are normally given long sentences in hard prisons, where they are lucky to survive their stay, and are VERY likely to end up as some hard-case's slave, and there is much rhetoric in the public world wanting life sentences or death sentences. Women are usually treated VERY gently by the press, generally receive light sentences, and as Mary Kay exemplifies, are almost treated as celebrities. So much for "equal justice for all".

As Lev noted, I doubt the "Raving Looney Party" will get much traction, even in the Netherlands.

 

Technically, although not a crime in the Netherlands, it should be a crime so the politicians are right to say so.

Private possession of child porn will lead to mass distribution no matter what. Theres no guarantee that it will remain for private use.

Why would you teach a toddler sex education? Its just plain stupid. Its like tryin to teach a 4th grader trigonometry. As with the sex with animals whoa thats just plain wrong.

Nudity in public? It would be better to keep those parts intact as we dont want people having sexual intercourse in front of everyone and whereever they want. The street will turn unto one big porn fest.

 

You would have thought that the Netherlands had learnt their lesson from trying to be the worlds utopia and bastion of rights.

Their immigration policy, like a lot of European countries, is now threatening society itself. The recent riots in Paris are a good example.


I realise this "party" doesn't have a chance, but the fact that it's even trying is a shock.

Free speech and democracy are wonderful things, but unfortunately maggots try to take advantage and look for holes they can crawl through.

Even the most democratic and liberal society needs boundaries and rules to keep these scum in check.

In a truly democratic free-speech society, the rational majority is expected to squash the stupid ideas that crop up. Usually works, as long as the majority is rational.

But my GUT instinct is to beat them to death with a club before they can formalize it.

Unfortunately, the silent majority are usually happy to let things sort themselves out, while the vocal minority scream and protest.


Slightly off-topic, but recent examples here are bibles being banned from some hospitals in case they offend someone, and child care centres who teach that some kids have 2 dads or 2 mums.

 

I agree that the public can be very apathetic and tend NOT to get off their lazy butts to protest what's being done. But for not electing crazy (or at least crazier than normal) politicians, all that's required is to keep sitting on their lazy butts, so that's much more likely.

 

I do agree with you that this percentage of the population is probably really smal l but i was just in shock to see that they are coming out and making public statements. I mean that would never happen in the US. Public officials and NCMEC/Cybertipline officials would be following them. They would certainly have to campaign constantly with paper bags on their heads, good point

 

They've been around in the U.S. as well, historically. Not nearly as much in recent years though.

WOW, thanks GT, i think i just lost a tad respect for the citizens in my country. Then again they have every right as much as i do to express their opinions and freedom of speech but i would think you would have to be crazy to be so open about something so controversial. If a person who was in NAMBLA lived in the same neeighborhood as me and my family, I would certainly report him to the officials/cybertipline. Call me a snitch but i just dont think that i would be comfortable with him living so close to me and my family. Can you blame me?
