Does the IE Flash player Auto Update feature actually work?

I noticed recently since flash exploits were becoming so prevalent that Adobe decided to add an "auto update" feature into the flash player installation. (see below picture)

Does this actually work? I had this enabled, the Task (.job) was present but I have never been notified that a new version of Flash Player was out.

I just updated to version 11.4.402.278 but that was only because I was going through the MajorGeek's latest updates, not due to Adobe's auto update feature.

Anyone else experience this or am I losing it ? :-D

 

Same here, so then both of us are losing it? I checked the Task Scheduler some time ago to see whether it was there and yes, it's there. Last time I waited for a few days after an update came around to see whether it would update automatically and no joy. Wouldn't wait any longer so I did a manual install.

PS: me thinks Adobe is losing it.

 

Well I really got taken on this one. The update before last did update automatically for me, but this last one, I updated myself doing the same checking for the latest updates at MajorGeeks as thisisu.

 

The automatic update can take up to 30 days to actually perform the update.

P.S. all my systems usually update within 2 or 3 days.

 

I'm more confident with updating Flash Player myself than relying on the auto-update feature. You can update many programs sooner from MG and some others rather than waiting for the program updater or going to the proprietary application web site.
