So i figure i'll start by saying im new to handling these kind of things past the point of scanning and letting the software handle it. I've managed to eliminate alot of problems but i still have a few remaining.

    DoubleClick is one of them

Virtumonde is the other (rdfa and aoprndtws)

i know sometimes when i rescan every now and then theres something else that comes up but as of right now its 1:37AM and it kind of slips my mind. (edit: btw I'm using Spybot and Symantic to do my scanning)

I followed the instructions for someone else who had problems with rdfa but it might have been too specific to that user that it didn't work for me. I would post my logs but I kind of need help locating where and which files i should be posting. ( forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=143614 )

Any and all help is appreciated as i don't really feel like reformatting my computer again (long story...part of it is i had dual harddrives and my raptor burned out for some reason...:cry) In the meantime i'll keep running scans to see if that other thing shows up again...

I took a screen shot of Spybot for more reference. Otherwise Symantic now finds nothing and those are the only problems i believe.

After having followed all of the steps Icons that randomly disappeared off my desktop have now reappeared. Sounds good for my computer so just need confirmation that no more steps need to be taken.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Before we get started removing your malware, I notice that you are doing something which I recommend against doing. You have CA's Internet Security Suite application installed but seem to have removed the antivirus part of it. You have Symantec Antivirus installed instead. This is a very bad idea mixing packages from different companies like this and it is extremely inefficient. Have you looked at all the processes and services required to run this way? Also the two of them are fighting to be your security center which can lead to problems. If you wish to keep the CA Internet Security Suite installed you really should dump Symantec and use CA's Antivirus.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {440DFEF5-439F-44C6-8758-FC9A69FBD618} - D:\WINDOWS\system32\byXRLFxw.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {50AD7CB2-02D7-452E-BA99-A90A342C2F73} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5B56E557-C056-40ED-9F43-39D6196E0147} - D:\WINDOWS\system32\geBrqpmL.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7B60AAB9-CFAD-4D0A-99C5-5E1CE58B7F5C} - D:\WINDOWS\system32\wvUnOGwu.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A639809A-8C2B-42DA-B9E9-D15C8E5AD43B} - D:\WINDOWS\system32\wvUoNFVO.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AEF4EA18-D68F-4A38-8551-B9445DAC0308} - D:\WINDOWS\system32\opnolIAq.dll (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: AvpAlrt - {a7fd7b3f-cc00-4b76-9216-1aecec5ceeb4} - D:\WINDOWS\Resources\AvpAlrt.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

everything seemed to go through smoothly. Heres the logs as requested...and expect to hear from me again because my laptop is and has been a mess for awhile. i'm starting to run the read and run me thread on that computer now.

...im having trouble with it letting me load mglogs.zip (edit: nvm...apparently i had the old one saved to desktop and the new one saved to my harddrive)

    You're logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    9. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    10. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    11. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    12. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
