I am finding that whenever I click on a Google link from the top of the search results (i.e. paid for) it often does not take me to the web site but (using Firefox) opens a new blank tab with doubleclick in the address (or when using shopping comparison sites with tradedoubler - for example http://clk.tradedoubler.com/click?p...PRICERUNNER&kwd=Fujifilm+FinePix+F50fd+Silver)

At the top of the screen Firefox is describing it as a 1x1 pixel GIF image

Any ideas please? I have run Spybot Search and Destroy which found some advertising type cookies which I have removed but the problem remains. -although I am not sure it remains for Google but definitely for Pricerunner.

Cookies (which doubleclick is) are not problems. I'm not clear on what your exact problem is but it may or may not be malware. The best way to find out is by doing the below.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
