Doubling Up On Protection Apps

I am doubling up on my protection and I recently purchased/installed Avast Pro and I'm in the process of purchasing/installing Outpost Fireware Pro as my firewall.

I noticed in the thread it recommends Avast at the top of the list under "Anti-Virus" protection but later, under "Realtime Blocking" it's not listed.

Do I need another app on top of the Outpost/Avast combo or does Avast also provide enough realtime protection as well as after-the-fact scanning?

    Thanks ;)

The Realtime Blocking heading is under the AntiSpyware Tools section ;) which is why Avast is not listed there since it is an antivirus which of course has realtime antivirus protection.

Thanks for the heads up. I also did some research on the Avast site, in which they state their "Resident Protection" feature is what servers as the real-time protection function.

    Thanks ;)
